Sunflower Shawl Fall is nearly upon us, and that means sunflowers (and pumpkins)! This shawl creates a triangle shape, designed to be worn as shown in the photo as opposed to along the shoulders, and is worked in a join-as-you-go way, making it a little easier to finish, even though it is a labor of love.
Sunflower Shawl is knit entirely without purl stitches. All of the short rows are made without picking up wraps due to Garter stitch. The leaves are worked flat and then they are joined in the round to knit the flower. The center can be knit using the magic loop method, or double pointed needles.
SUNFLOWER SHAWL. Bright sunflowers adorn this silk shawl . The vibrant oranges, browns, purples and greens come from an original paint of Vicki Underland-Rosow. The sheer silk fabric folds into a small package which you can tuck into your purse to take out and wear whenever you suddenly feel the desire to transform into an elegant look.
